Personally I think you need to rethink the entire site structure. You have two different programs trying to interact with a very badly linked structure. I am not sure what programs you have based this on but I wonder if you can even keep the pieces patched together properly. (Constructive, not hateful here) But as I mentioned before, keep on trying... LOL |

Ha yes it has been said before, that having 2 separate sites is a bit confusing. That's out of my sphere of knowledge, I'm afraid. I know next to nothing about site design. Maybe admin might see this and make some comment I am just a humble moderator who'd like to see if we can make the forums a bit more lively. Within those more limited constraints, we're looking to see if the order of folders could be arranged better and if we could add some topics |

I would remove the folder called "For seriously committed members". It's not really a category, and anything in there could just as well be posted in another folder. What if under the "Introduction" folder, the sub-caption read "Please post here first" just as a reminder. Another folder idea might be "movies, music, arts". I remember we've had some threads about favorite "cougar" movies, but it's long buried by now. Perhaps we could even make a sticky for "best cougar movies" inside this folder. What about a folder for "how I started" stories? And I do like the "help" folder - although would there be overlap in some of the existing folders? (dating advice, relationships...) I think the idea of folders should be that we build up a bit of an archive that is helpful to newbies, but not have so many folders that it's unclear where to post. |

I like a lot of the ideas Violet and Lady Em have, I think there needs to be folders like that so, we are not getting the same topics for discussion over and over again, every time a new member comes on the site. IE... "Where do I meet cougars?" that done is done to death.

Since there was such a big to do made about it why not have a category or folder for hookups? It seems very important to some to post it and for others to freak out over so if it had its own section you could just skip over it if you didn't want to read it. That way if someone posted for nsa or "fun" in another category one of our new mods could move the post to that thread.

Yeah Houston GREAT idea, a folder for NSA, or just fun or looking just for sex sounds good to me, that way the people that don't want to read or know about that can just skip over it. For those that are interested in that, well there will be a folder for it too.

Lady_Emerson: The only integration between the main site and the forum is the shared login. The main site is of course the dating side of the site and it has its own blog system built into it. Forums have been around much longer than blogs and it's true some people don't real see much of a difference. However, each blog is owned by a specific member and the "Blogs" menu option just lets you see all member blogs in one place. On the other hand, the forum is a much more open platform for discussion. Exactly what parts of the site do you think are badly structured/linked together? It would be interesting for us to hear what you all believe are problems with the current site structure ? Members can choose to participate in whatever parts of the site they like, some like just the pure dating features, others like communicating their thoughts via blogs and some like to float around the forum and participate in a wide range of conversations. |
