Location in profiles...

I find it really frustrating that location doesn't show up on profiles. I think gocougar should automatically post at least the state that someone is from rather than have us go back and forth on precious messages about locales. I am fairly certain that I have had no profiles come thru where the location was specified. Sometimes it is mentionned in the about me sections, but otherwise it's a guessing game.

City and state are shown under "Location:" when you view a profile.

The only reason the location would not come up is if someone intentionally leaves it off--which I agree is pretty silly of them.

On a related note, I wish we could search be zip code or county or something. If you live in a big state (like California) then searching by state brings up a lot of people who are WAY too far away.

I meant that it should automatically come up rather than hope that folks fully fill out their profiles. I have both my city and state listed, but only Wilmington shows up on my profile, not Wilmington, NC. Says Wilmington, United States...hopefully more folks will read and realize how important location is for searching and possibly meeting...

You can edit your profile via User CP in blue menu bar and set the Location -> Where you live field.

On the main goCougar site, Location consists of your City and Country profile fields.

You mean someone else finds it as frustrating as I do that no one lists where in the h e double hockey stick they live??? Yes, that is how I feel whenever I look at people's profiles. Like a little airheaded dumb blonde. My time is very precious to me and I have wasted lots of it searching on this site and answering emails from people who live hundreds if not thousands of miles away. Please, please, please people list your location. I am seriously considering not rejoining because of the amount of time wasted on a poorly designed non-user friendly site. So, hey admin could you listen to your subscribers and put something in that would automatically list a city and state???

I was thoughtful to look through the threads before posting on this topic.

Is there a way, perhaps in the Profile viewer at least to note the US state for those in the states?

This is even more applicable to those who live in Canada, where going only by province could lead to users that are half a day or more apart driving distance. Look at the difference between Ottawa and Windsor or Sault Ste Marie, Ontario for example. I think that is at least an 8-hour drive. I think there should be a spot for users to list their post code, so then listings could get more accurate.

I've looked through older Forum posts but didn't find what I needed, so pardon me if the question's already been raised: is it possible for people who are NOT registered on the GoCougar site to participate in the Forum?
If so, why?

luna, no you must join the forum in order to post in it... reading im not sure if they can or not but i know in order to post you must be registered.

game, on here when i post it shows my location or atleast a general idea i forget what i put up and im pretty sure my profile does to. if someone happens to look at mine and its not listed please PM me ill change it.

Thanks for the explanation.
When I read something interesting in the forums, of course I like to know more about the person who wrote it, so I click on the nick. I must be missing something because if I click on the nick of someone who has posted in the Forum, I cannot find a way to view their regular GC profile.
That's why I posted my initial question: since I can't find a lead to the regular profiles, it seems that people can post here as registered Forum users but may not necessarily have regular GC profiles.
Or maybe I've got it all wrong and don't know it - help?
