For those not in the British Loop "I'm free" has certain connotations in the UK.
I have no idea if the program "Are you Being Served" was broadcast abroad, but it starred a chap called John Inman who's catch phrase was "I'm Free" The end result is that its not a phrase used by a red blooded heterosexual male anymore other than ironically.
