It is such a strong feeling that even the initial stages have that power you cannot believe its strength. I can say that in my 24 years of life that I have entered those initial stages twice. Once I went into the deeper stages but not full blown love. Love is only attained when it is reciprocated. A crush is simply a very immature form of love but I would not separate it from the realm of love. But a crush is not reciprocated love and is not true love. I have come closer than just a mere crush. People telling me, I speak a certain persons name in my sleep even if I do not dream of them, yet they are strong in my thoughts.
But there are many forms of love. Two heterosexual men can love each other. Like the love of brothers or fathers and sons. In the end, what I feel is true love, regardless of sexuality or relation, is rather them living without you in death, than you living without them in their death. And the feeling being mutual.
That is why sacrifice for the life of others is considered the ultimate act of love, the value of anothers life over your own, and the infinite goodness that can come from such. Love is both selfishness and selflessness. And the pursuit of the perfect balance, is the point of life.
