my last relationship was with a 50 year old woman. i guess that's about top age. but i don't set boundaries for myself, i usually am so fast breaking any
i also don't like referring to myself as a cub, because i'm a man.
i think "cougar" sounds cool, but "cub" is kinda degrading.

Reviving an old question!

The age gap in question depends entirely on the two people concerned. And on the level of maturity of the younger party. Some guys of 20-25 are pretty together and know where they are going in life, etc. Others have a young teen mentality and level (i.e. lack) of maturity even at age 35 and older!

It also depends on how 'young' the Lady is happy to go. And that will be affected by the man's mentality, by compatibility of interests and goals, etc.

Since everyone is different, and many women of 50 and older look and think more like 35-40 these days, deciding on the age alone seems pointless. It is always, always the PERSON we want to meet, not the age group.

What's been said above is absolutely spot on.

Whilst agree it's not under the pretence that I, personally, don't have an 'ideal' age in my head. I mean if I could meet someone who ticked all the right boxes and was sort of 36-42 then that to me would be perfect.

If it was a case of them being 32 or 48 on the flip side then so be it. You can't discount compatibility because of the other person not falling in the desired age bracket.

Puppet you have no idea how many younger men contact women stating little more than their age and more or less saying, how about it? LOL.

I have lost count of the no pic, no personal details 18-22 ish guys that proudly tell me their age and NOTHING ELSE and expect me to faint with joy.

Guys it's not the number of the age we women find impressive! It's the MAN, himself.

These guys are probably basing their ideology of what a cougar is by what they've seen in movies. That because you're on a cougar dating website you're about to pounce on any young guy you meet :/

I know it's a clich? to say age is just a number, but it's kind of the way I like to think. If I met someone my age who I was attracted too mentally and physically then of course I'd go for it. As it happens, I've never met anyone under the age of about 40 that I've been attracted to either of those ways which is why I'm here. I understand why people might set age limitations to keep in with the norms of society and such...but I don't see why two consenting adults of any age can't have a relationship.

Absolutely, Kie.

As I said it is always about the two individuals concerned, not the age factor. We women know we prefer a younger man; most men here know that they prefer an older woman.

The rest is negotiable!

I've dated as young as 19, but then that was another decade....and I will say it was one of the most memorable weekends of my life. And I've had an online romance with an unusually brilliant and mature guy of 18. ;-) So now, as a few years have passed, I find myself trying to aim a little older, but then I remember that the whole point of being here is to escape society's rules of propriety. Life's too short.....get over here Kie! LOL I'm kidding with ya, my friend. ;-P

For you, I'd make an exception, darling. Did I just say that?
