The web cam is a great tool if used properly, but a lot of times people ask
that because they want to give you the "once over" to see if YOU'RE good
enough or sexy enough for them to even talk to. That's arrogant, indeed.
Because it shouldn't be soleyabout that. Then there's the ones who do
want to unwrap their little packages for you and oooooh, ahhhh baby all
over the place...a total turn off! I have one and I use it when I want to, but
I don't just off the bat go ,here...take a looky and see. Through my cable
carrier, I have protection and distortions that bounce signals through their regulators.
So they know exactly who it is and precisely where they're located down to the
zip code and street. You have to be safe no matter what you do. Even meeting
people at a coffee shop has to be a security run. Seriously, take no chances. I
am a very precautionary person. I have a lot of safeguards in place before I do
anything with anybody. They don't know it, but I do and that's the only way I'd
ever agree to meeting someone, chatting with someone, or definitely cam chatting.
As for pix, I don't have a problem with them although I do understand bad experiences
people have with that aspect of it. I've been in books, mags, vids, fashion shows and
on-line catalogs and all kinds of things. Not that I'm a celeb or anything, but I do make
a (very) few $'s from my image. So I really don't post anything I don't want circulated
all over the world. And if I were a celeb, most of the judgemental ones would be singing
my praises, especially since it seems all you have to do these days is have a (leaked)
sex tape in order to become instantly famous. Look at the prostitute with the Gov...She'll
get her own show, a book deal and a mansion in B Hills...So, no I'm not famous, and my
pix don't make a fool a fool,ok!
Part of the reason I haven't found anyone here is because I get a lot of messages
from the annonymous fellas who say they want to chat. I don't really talk to them.
I tell them I need to see the face and I need to know something about them. That's
when they offer the web cam and I decline. For one thing it isn't an identifier because
it could be anyone else in the world sittin in for a friend. Secondly, it's rude to ask
that before you even have one conversation with anyone. Lastly, without a profile,
it's not a substitute.
If you're smart and you've been on this planet for while and are not new off the show-
room floor, then you know the score. I just think the cam thing is ok, if you know who
the hell you're talking to. But without ever having any dialogue what so ever, or even
having exchanged info for a while, so you can have your computer stamp their informa-
tion, I wouldn't recommend doing it.
XB Tip d'jour: Webcams operate all day if you keep them plugged in whether you are
signed in or not. Think of your telephone. It operates all day even if you don't talk
on it, right? Most have caller I.D., right? Even the ones that hide their identity aren't
hidden from the phone company/law enforcement. So if something as simple as a
telephone can do that, think of what advanced communications are capable of. Cams
even pick up conversations in your home when you are not logged on to anything. THEY EAVES DROP ON YOU ALL DAY IF LEFT PLUGGED IN.
They can also be controlled remotely from ANOTHER PERSON'S I.P. ADDY. So if you
don't want to have a "Peeping Tom", keep your lens pointed up to your ceiling (which
is what I do) and/or unplug it, which is what I do when I'm not using it. That way your privacy is guaranteed and YOU ARE IN CONTROL . This is something
I learned from a friend who is the VP of Internet Protocol and Intelligence in a multi million dollar corporation. He is responsible for all communication and for ever nickle and dime
that flows through those doors. So the dude knows what he's talking about. For what
it's worth, I hope you enjoy your experiences and be safe. Just don't randomly cam...it
could be a scam!
