Is being a Nigerian a bad thing?

Hey there

Unfortunately a huge proportion of scams emanate from Nigeria. Most women have got fed up with it. Hence Nigeria is a big no no.

If you are serious you need to be prepared to prove who you are properly and quickly.

No doubt Nigeria has its share of good guys too.

No doubt in what you said. but we can't allow the sins of a few be used to rate every NIGERIAN. However,what steps should i take to vindicate and prove myself,i know i have nothing to hide.

Well, the interesting thing is that most Nigerian scammers try to HIDE the fact that they're Nigerians -- so, being upfront about your nationality could be seen as a good sign...or it could be seen as a new scam strategy! Hmmm you've got a problem!

If it were a mere handful of scammers sourced back to Nigeria, we wouldn't be having this conversation luv. More accurately, it is a shame that you have to pay for the sins of THOUSANDS of scammers from your part of the world. There are entire sites dedicated to the purpose of exposing and outting the Nigerian scammers...that's how bad it is!

So in that light, can you blame us for being more than a bit cautious? But as someone else has mentioned, the fact that you actually SAY you're from Nigeria wins you a few points. They have told me in the past that they are from various states, sometimes in my own back yard. Sooner or later, they get stupid and my unfortunate experience, otherwise known as the little voice in my head, shakes me and says, "Hey what are you doing?" LOL

I agree that you'll have more than your fair share of work ahead of you. You'll need to show yourself on cam perhaps, because anyone can take photos. Anyway, assuming you are indeed for real, I wish you the best of luck on your quest!

Why don't you and the other honest Nigerians in your country try to do something to stop all the scammers in your country? I would be embarrassed to admit that I come from a country where so many dishonest people earn their living from scamming honest people!! I don't mean that as being disrespectful to YOU personally. I'm sure that you don't do that. I'm just saying, why don't you try to do something to change it, because your country does have a well-deserved bad rap for all the thousands of people whose lives they have messed up, both financially and emotionally!

The truth of the matter is,the country it self has tried to see on how to stop the scammers from operating by setting up monitoring a team the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and they investigate cyber crimes.But you see that these guys still go on with their doings....actually the Team can't get hold of them maybe beacause the country does not have a CENTRAL INFORMATION SYSTEM just like some developed countries like the US and UK does.Never the less am keen on making the world know that there are thousands of GOOD NIGERIANS and the NEED TO BE GIVEN A CHANCE TO PROVE THE INNOCENCE.

Just so everyone knows, this guy is trolling at least one other site I visit, called "Agelesslove", which isn't so much a dating site per se...more of a SUPPORT site for those who are already in age gap relationships. He tried to post several times and they closed his threads because they don't do drama and they don't want any whiners. That was early last month, June.

Dude, if you truly are sincere, this is NOT the way to "prove your innocence". Just stop whining and talk like a normal guy looking for a lady. Post some more pics, talk about OTHER stuff, because I, for one, just don't feel sorry for you.

Now you can protest, kick and scream all you want, but until you stop being such a cry baby and grow some huevos (yeah, look THAT one up), the chances of you getting to first base on this site are looking mighty grim.

Valerie, we are all human and when we try to give advice to one another we ought to employ some kindness,though we might be somewhat angry at the disappointing attitude of the fellow to whom we are advicing.
I am not here for pranks or to cheat anybody off his or her what ever the so called scams do, whether here or any other site.I have my pride and dignity to protect,though i might come from a country rated highly for crime.
Don't take it that am trying to gain pity from members here.I am only trying to let us know that there are still good Nigerians out there and they need a chance to prove they are innocent of the crimes of their fathers,mothers,brothers,sisters and friends.
I sincerely apologize to this forum (Members & Moderators) especially my dear friend Valerie who has shown great interest in my success here, over my method in seeing that i am innocent.I LOVE YOU ALL
