What does the world expect? We have 300 million residents in the USA...we are bound to produce many of the best athletes in the world, and most of their training is funded by their parents who one time decided to stick their little guy in the peewees, especially soccer/football/baseball. There is no governmental or corporate funding for nurturing athletism and talent. Its all hard won and even harder paid for by single individuals.

Ooh. Do you know, I was thinking of you lot on Sunday night seeing as most of my friends on here are YANKS and I am english. I was wondering if you even knew the match was on. hehe Over here, it was amazing. There was virtually no cars in the roads and you could hear all the noise in all the pubs. I was at the gym at the time and the only other people in there were people speaking another language!! Hehe I kid you not Please can someone let me know when england is playing again so I can get to the gym asap. I am not a fan of either nationalism nor football. Particularly as done in england. Sorry. (And for the english readers I grew up round the corner from spurs football ground so that's my street cred :P) |

Vita! Of course, I knew the match was on but that is because I had it pounded into my head. Just before I left, one of the bars that I always frequented in Formby had English flags, the white with a red cross, all over the place and had a big ole sign posted up in front with England vs. USA at the top. So, I was well aware and knew all my "British" friends would be watching the game. That, and my nephew reminded me on FB. But you're right, pretty much life continued as normal. Most of our 300 million didn't even notice. Doesn't seem fair that it was a draw, does it?
