Default Introducing......

Just stopping by to introduce myself!

My name is Daniel I am 19 years old and am from London in the UK.

I have been a member for a while but this is my first time stopping by the forum.

I must admit I haven't exactly been inundated with messages, not sure if that is because of me or because the older female / younger female thing is still a little taboo in the UK.

There seems to be a lot more cougars from the US than the UK, would be interested in people's theories as to why this might be! I would be happy to hear from people from anywhere in the world if only for a chat.

Although I am obviously hoping to meet someone for real as well!

Thanks Tarni,

I know I'm from the lil ol' UK but there must be some lovely cougars prowling around somewhere nearby!

I guess I'll just have to stick around and see if one pounces.

(Not sure how far you can extend the 'cougar' metaphor until it becomes absurd )

"Himbo"? ahahahah - that's funny!

(As a footnote, "bimbo" is an Italian word that simply means a very young male child - who knows how it got to be so twisted in the USA?).

That's right - bimbo is short for bambino, bimba is short for bambina.

Question Is it a positive or a negative metaphor?

(the emphasis are mine)

I love the way you brought this up, Dan. I tend to see it from a positive perspective in which case prowling and pouncing are just great if the prey is willing like you and I, don't you think?

But then, Tarni's post has me a little confused

Perhaps we could use OW for Older Woman (not Other Woman)?

I agree that the term indeed has become absurd. But what do our OWs feel about this.

I wouldn't want to use something absurd to describe someone I love, cherish and admire!

Do we just forget about the word couger, then and stick with older woman (OW) instead?

Hi Abergirl, nice to know that there are at least a few home grown older women on this site, maybe there is hope for me yet!

Hey to everyone else as well. Surprised to see that my 'absurd' comment has provoked such a lively debate, so don't mind me if I jump in as well.

Firstly all I will say is what I meant by the 'absurd' comment is that I thought perhaps I had pushed the metaphor a little too far and if people found this silly or amusing etc.

I have to admit that like you beaw, I quite like the term 'cougar' and the various connotations that come with it. It conjures up thoughts of someone sleek and sexy yet with an exciting confidence and strength that is predatory. These are some qualities that I would find rather appealing in a woman!

However I can perhaps see how the term has perhaps become cliché, and that people who have been here at the site for a while, or have just been interested/involved in the whole older woman / younger man dynamic may have tired of the terminology.

But I have only just really discovered all this or that this kind of relationship even has a term to define it and personally I just think that the term is fun and shouldn't be taken too seriously.

I will state now loud and proud that I am happy to be considered a 'cub' and invite any lovely cougars out there to pounce away till their hearts are content!

P.S - However I don't think that I would like to be called a 'himbo' ... so lumanor and tarni you will have to come up with something else! :P

"If you build it they will come."

Not sure if swimming pools work the same as baseball pitches but you never know!

I maybe a qualified lifeguard but I absolutely refuse to run in slow motion. I find that when people are drowning they get extremely annoyed if you do this.

*laughing*
Sweetpea, if I'm stuck with "cougar", then you're stuck with "himbo"!

Yeah, the whole slow-motion Baywatch thing isn't exactly conducive to good lifesaving. On the flip side I do look rather snazzy in a pair of red shorts!

Lunamor, please for the love of god I don't want to be a himbo for however many more years is until I am too old to be thought of as a cub!

Can't we come to some sort of arrangement?
