Default Guys advice for women

Ok we've heard alot from the women about what guys shouldn't do (e.g. Guys-don't be STUPID like...) and in many other discussions. That's all cool as guys aren't perfect and there's plenty of guys here who aren't mannerly.

But I thought I'd start a thread for the guys to sound off what the women shouldn't do (or should do), smart, stupid things etc. So there's a stereotype for guys not to say much but here's our chance. The women have been generous enough to provide guidance as to what we should(n't) do...so we should return the favor.

Hello sealion,

Do you have any suggestions about what women should or shouldn't do in regard to online dating, since you raise this topic and seem quite interested in it?

You request that the men on this site list their opinions, yet you don't actually explain what you wish women would or wouldn't do online. Maybe you could get the ball rolling for the guys who might be shy to express their thoughts on this matter by discussing specific examples of what you think women should avoid doing on internet dating sites or how they should behave.

Tick for Tiffany.

I hope this isn't some kind of tit for tat situation. I'd hope threads like these will only be started if some men somewhere have something useful to say...

As I'm someone who's had relationships with women as well as men, I guess I can straddle the bar, so to speak, and can, to a certain extent, see it from both sides although, as a woman myself, I am more likely to have empathy and understanding for my woman lovers.

Here would be my top 6 tips:

* No we're not moving in together and if you even suggest it I will run
* Please don't come on too strong about the relationship...I will run!
* Just because I've agreed we're in a relationship doesn't mean I want to see you every single night
* My cats come first - sorry. They can't help being a bit jealous at having someone else in the bed with them, they didn't mean to claw you.
* No you can't get sticky things with our names on for your car window - ewwwwwwwww, the very thought brings me out in a rash!
* Thanks for the flowers, and the romantic meal and the passion and the love and the care. You got that right.

NB I have never ever experienced a lesbian on lesbian sites try and "date" the way straight people do. You chat first, see where it goes and if you want to meet up. For me, that's perfect so have no need to suggest anything different for approaches on dating sites.

well the standard one is don't evaluate us for our wealth, if we're well read etc. etc. future mate potential on the first date at (at least), instead the relationship should focus on having a good time.

Yep, that's a good one. Meeting new people should be FUN and "fun" does seem to get lost in the online straight dating world.

Hehehe you've reminded me that the times I've gone to reply to a man asking me what I want and I've wanted to reply "I want to have some fun" and then stopped and thought "oh oh, no, DON'T write that..." and so I haven't been able to convey that this is the most important thing for me, regardless of the nature of the relationship. A sad indictment really.

Another word for "fun"? Anyone?

Keep using "fun" but qualify it with that line from the song, One Night in Bangkok: "I get my kicked ABOVE the waistline, sunshine!"
