Default Question about age...

I like to say I'm 34 and I believe I can pass for it. My question is, if a young guy in his early 20's is interested but a little hesitant because I'm "34", would it possibly turn him off if he found out I was actually 40?

I don't want to be a liar. Should I just avoid the topic of numbers and be coy? What do you all do when you meet someone?

My age is absolutely no one's business. An employer can't even ask a potential employee her age. It's illegal. So, you should NOT feel compelled to reveal your age.
I don't get the advantages of broadcasting my age. I see the advantages of not doing so,however. If someone asks me my age, I usually just smile and say something cute and smile like, "Oh, come on. Does age really matter anymore?"

Unfortunately some guys do have stigmas about "certain ages". It has been discussed on here before. I always pass for much younger than I am also, so I just try to avoid the whole thing too. Right now I have a 24 yo guy that I work with that has been flirting with me for a few months. When we first started talking he kept asking me how old I was. I finally said how old do you think I am and he replied 35. I said ok, then, just keep on thinking that!

Well, unless the guy's a ***** it really doesn't matter...

It shouldn't matter one bit. If it does, they are not worth your time.

Some people get bent out of shape about the lie *shrug* but it's actually a bit rude to even ask the question!

The lie itself yes. The age shouldn't be the issue.

Because it's either awkward (traditional rules) or irrelevant (modern mores)!

I've said in another post too that on cougar/cub sites I tell my correct age, on regular dating sites I have lied...but I feel better knowing that if they contact me its because of an attraction and not my age...
