I don't think there should be a set amount of time. Just get to know the person well enough until you're comfortable to meet in person. Personally I'm always fond of the mid afternoon coffee run to meet in person. It always works for a first time. I guess if one is really hitting it off well, go out for a calm dinner. Heck I love cooking so i'd prefer that. |

The coffee shops around my little town are family owned sit ins and I tend to get lunch there as well. But the suggestion is noted. Thanks HC! |

I live in Houston and there is nowhere that is quiet. I don't think there are any little coffee shops or any restaurants like that anywhere near me. It's the land of strip malls and chains. We are currently growing so fast that they expect to have 3 million more residents within the next few years and that we will be by 2015 the most international city in the U.S. There are more than 52 languages spoken in our school districts and believe it or not we still have lots of undeveloped land within the city limits with get this you guys... no zoning laws except that you can't have a strip joint, liquor store or bar within so many feet of a school. At times it is a virtual nightmare and I live very close to the city limit in what was a pretty rural area only 15 miles from downtown 4 years ago. It is growing and exploding all around me. |

There has to be some nice places to go for a low commitment type of meeting. What do you suggest Hc? |

It's inexpensive, doesn't have to last long so you can bail as you say and move on to party with someone better if that's what you're worried about and you don't have to order alcohol since all bars and restaurants serve soda and coffee. It is the ambiance I am talking about here not cost, time of day etc. Oh, and unless a man asks me out for dinner I always assume the first meeting I am going dutch. When I meet a man I do not want to sit in a busy place full of people working on their laptops etc. That is not a date, if you don't want a first meet to be a date then say so but ask her where she would like to meet.

Ok I found a good coffee shop restaurant type of place that I had heard of and actually went to a long time ago. I guess I just forgot about it. Now, if I can manage to get a date, get up, do my chores and get ready by noon I could do a lunch thingy without a problem. |
