Default Is buying flowers still aceptable?

Is buying flowers for a woman you are about to meet still ok or I am I being rather old fashioned? I have always done this on my previous dates but wonder what they must have thought of me. I do like flowers and think it is a great gesture to someone you care for but can not help wondering if this puts women off.

Default Personally

I think it's a very nice gesture. I love flowers and believe it or not have never received them from a man. Nope, I am not kidding you, not even from my husband when he was alive. Most guys just don't think like that... I did have one man pull a little glass swan with a rose in it out of his trunk when we were leaving the restaurant and hand it to me but, that was strange if you ask me and no, I never dated him again bu,t that wasn't why. Actually, how would you give a woman flowers, are you picking her up at her home for the date? I don't let a man pick me up at my home for a first date (I have before but they never work out), I have a policy now where I always meet them in a public place.

No, I always met my last date outside the hostel where she was staying while here in the Uk. I always used to present her with flowers when I dropped her off just to say thank you for such a nice evening and give her something to think about long after I left. Houstoncougar, I can not beleive that no man ever thought to buy you flowers, so wrong! Guys in the US take note here!

HC... Can I use some of those pain killers you have? I've just hurt myself falling of my chair after reading that comment...

My rules on this one are very simple:
1) If she invites you around her place: bring flowers.
2) If she invites you around her place for dinner: bring flowers and a bottle of wine.

Apart from that, I've bought flowers from time to time for every women I have been in a long term relationship with, for no reason other then to let her know I loved her...

Huh! Men...! They have sooooooo much to learn...!

Default So

not only was I born in the wrong time I was born in the wrong country. My daughter buys me flowers because she knows how much I love them. Tulips and roses are my favorites and crazy daises which are regular daises that have been sitting in food coloring I think so that they pick up these crazy bright colors that make them look like they are fake.

Hmm I must be the oddball in the group.

Way back in the day when my father was a single man he ALWAYS bought flowers for my stepmom. After awhile she started telling him to stop because it was nearly everyday.

I don't like to give any gift on the first date. I try to get a little bit more involved before I start offering stuff like that.

There was this girl I dated awhile ago and I needed to do something sweet for her since I pulled a mean trick (no details since i'm ashamed of it!). I bought her tulips and drove to her house which was 45 miles south of me. I surprised her at about 10:45 pm since I got out of work at 10. I called her and I was like, "Hey! Go to your window." and she was like , "Why?" and I said, "Just do it"

She walked up to her window and looked up. I told her to look down and to her surprise i was there !

Hahaha the look on her face was priceless.

Surprised glee. I was there at quarter till 11 at night.

She said it made up for it so that's all that matters.

Oh that is good, I wonder if it is a good idea to give a flower grown from your own garden. Should I even say I grew a rose from my garden. I always get unlucky too, when ever I am supposed to meet someone the roses in my garden are either dead or premature. What does that say about me? lol

"A flower from your garden is just as thoughtful"...if it's in presentable shape
