Ailurophile, your inner fear of talking that way to an older woman is your smart side - listen to it!
Hearing some young stranger familiarly call me "cutie" or "hottie" really puts my fur up!

Is your fur up a good thing or a bad thing? I get a little confused with metaphors sometimes

with the heckels up? Do cats have heckels or is it only dogs?

I love the painting though very reminisant of rembrant when he went through his kitty kat stage.

I usually try to disarm cougars with a joke.

If I see them with a group of females and males, I go up to her in front of the whole group and ask, "which one of these lucky men is your husband?"

"None"

"Phew -- lucky them!"

Something stupid usually works for me. Gets a laugh going and shows I'm interested.

Greeneyes, from what I've read it seems that hackles is used primarily in reference to dogs, but cats also have them: it they're called by another name, I don't know!

I thought the cat looked more Van-Gogh-on-hallucinogenics!

When I get "Hi cutie" messages from strangers, it never fails to make a bad impression - I'm not a child, and I'm sure not anyone's pet!

I'm not particularly formal, but "cutie" doesn't even sound appropriate, especially coming from a guy who's a lot younger than me.

I also dislike "Hey sexy" right off the bat: I don't need anonymous strangers to stroke my ego (of course, if I get to know someone then that kind of appreciation is welcome).

Agree? Disagree?

Totally disrespectful. I'm sad to hear anyone talks that way to you, sugar buns.
