I'd echo houston.
Mention the things that stand out in your mind when you visualize the best person for you. Then just say that you're open to many things, but would like someone along closer to being along the lines that you depicted. That way you don't rule out a everyone, but you minimize loss of time with someone who isn't your type.

I just usually respond that if everything were to fall into place, my ultimate goal is a long term relationship, etc, depending on how things go. I usually am more specific and ask what kind of relationship someone is after, so I know if they are wanting to eventually be married and have a family, if they're just wanting to have a boytoy to play with, etc, so I know I'm not wasting my time on someone who just wants to mess around. I don't ever ask the exact question "What are you looking for" on a site like this. That's kind of a "well no ****" question...people here want to talk to others and potentially start a romantic relationship if they find the right person. Otherwise why would they be here? To talk about the weather?
