Vietnam was a considered by the public a foolish war back then, the men and women that served were not well thought of. I can understand why your dad did not talk about it. I was married to a Special Forces Captain at the time, and when he came back, he was pretty tight lipped about his time there. I did find out some things and it was disturbing, but I salute your dad and my ex for the service of their country, they were brave and wonderful.

We should honor the men and what they did to serve the country in any time of crisis. My Brother was in Vietnam also and I remember one time when he was home on leave a woman stopped us in the street and spat at him because he was a "Baby burner". My brother was a good man called to serve his country but found the burden to heavy. Today we lose more of our troups to suicide than we do from the actual fighting. The sad part of thet fact is that nobody seems to care. I will always honor the brave men who have stood firm to protect us.

I know a few Nam Vets myself, and none of them like to talk about their experiences. My Uncle Frank served in WWII under the command of Gen. Patton, and that's all I ever heard of his experience. They don't like to talk about it because they don't want to be reminded or be reminding themselves of any of it.

The don't My dad was in WWII and when I was older I notice a big scar near his shoulder area, and questioned him about it. It seems my dad stole an SS Officer motorcycle, and ran it through a barbed wire fence. But that's abut all I know about his war experience.
