Age gap between siblings is rather common here in Iceland. They call the older kid the babysitter

Really Violet? (re: the age spread thing) That is kind of funny to me....my 2 girls are 10 years apart. The older one is a single mom...from the very start. She is the most excellent mother ever, and she thanks me for the responsibility she had of helping to take care of her baby sister. In fact, that girl was my little helper when she was 2! I often asked her to go fetch a diaper or something....she was always happy to help!
