The present administration had two years to even show signs of progress. The unemployment rate hasn't gone down much. The economy is still floundering, the promises made haven't been fulfilled or even shown any progress. I am a believer that there should be a balance of power, not just one party in control of the whole system. Democratic president Republican congress.

I agree 4020, 2 parties really is a farce, it's more like one kid bullying the other. They need to find a middle ground and work together as representatives of the people, not because of some party code, for the lack of a better word. and the money they spend on the campaigns...............they should be restricted as to an amount, that money could have gone a long way to help out the people that need help the most. Our system is broken, and I doubt that either party can fix it now.

Any time someone spends over 140 million dollars to get a job that pays $200,000 a year something is wrong. Yes, we have to work hard to get out of a problem that started a long time ago. We cannot just blame Clinton, Bush or Obama, we have to look at the greed of the machine that feeds on so much and produces nothing. We are like the farmer who sold his horses so he could purchase a bigger wagon. We no longer produce anything worth while in the USA. Where is our steel coming from? Plywood? Televisions? Computers? We no longer even make cars in the USA, we just assemble parts from China and Japan.

I think our country lost more than a president when JFK was murdered. We lost our vision, our drive and our hearts. Our government is broken and I don't know if it can be fixed in anyone's four year term. I would love to see a multi party trio of presidents that would work together to try and build a new kind of government...

I don't necessarily see our government system as the biggest problem. It's the overarching influence of big business into every part of our lives, including government. Our nation does the best when government and business are in direct opposition to one another, not in bed with each other. I hate to be a pessimist, but I don't see things changing at all. Two days ago, we saw proof of that. We all say we wanted change, but the American voters just made sure that isn't happening. Last edited by red_star1979; 11-05-2010 at 10:44 PM. |

I for one hope that we still have time to try. I live in Michigan and where I live is considered one of the strongest economic sections left in Michigan yet my house is "Upside down". In the Detroit area you can purchase a three bedroom three bath home for less than $20,000 where they used to sell for over $100,000. My retirement fund tanked and my health insurance cost skyrocketed. It really makes me angry when short sighted people say "Ya, Obama messed up". Now our only hope is that we are not stupid enough to elect more stupid people into office. |
