I think the pervasiveness of the right-wing media has part of blame. You won't believe how many people actually take their lies seriously.

Honestly, It will help the United States and world greatly. It forces Obama to come more towards center with his policies and it forces republicans to work with liberals to pass legislation. It makes the government realize cooperation passes legislation. This mismatch of ideology will truely represent the voice of america. In terms of the world, I think the US involvement in world events are going to decrease so we can focus more domestically and rebuild. We need to rethink this whole health care bill and war.

YakeeJ we can only dream good things like that will happen, but when you have some members of the senate standing up and say now we are "gonna get" Obama, it doesn't look like any coming together for "The People" is going to happen, it is like a playground fight amongst two parties. The ALL need to get heir heads out of their ass*es and work together to help heal this country.

Keep dreaming buddy.

Obama has tried to be in the center for the last 2 years, and the Republicans obstructed just about everything so they could blame Obama for not being bipartisan and sweep into the House this November.

Seriously, when Obama said he'd be willing to work together with the Republicans and Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell says his number one priority is making him a one-term president, any cooperation seems all but impossible unless it's something the Republicans want.

I don't want Obama to try to compromise any more if the Republicans are going to act the same way they have for the last two years. I want him to stand up for something. If he doesn't grow a spine between now and 2012, I'll be voting for a challenger on the left in the next Democratic primary.

Obama tried to compromise for the last two year, the Republicans obstructed everything and they gained for it in this election cycle. I hope Obama has learned how they work by now: NO COMPROMISE.

The left-wing media is just as pervasive as the right-wing media--MSNBC doesn't even pretend to be objective anymore--far left as it is. Most of the main stream newspapers are far left--The New York Times, The L.A.Times, USA Today on and on. . .
So, is it any less offensive that millions of people actually take the lies of the left seriously??

Don't get me wrong. I'm not a conservative, Republican. I'm a centrist who believes this country is far too partisan with unreasonable pundits on both sides inciting gridlock in the political process. Few people in this country read or think critically anymore and rely on sound bites and TV personalities for their information.

At least MSNBC doesn't blatantly make things up. Have you seen what FOX "news" airs sometimes to scare people? The "death panels" during the healthcare debate and the 2 billion dollar trip to India by President Obama? Those are straight-up fiction. Their pundits, in particular Glenn Beck, make up cockamamie conspiracy theories that people actually believe.

You know there used to be a time when it was okay to have a different opinion over a given set of facts. FOX "news" doesn't do that, they just make up their own "facts" to fit to their agenda. It's not news, it's a political operation.

MSNBC and liberals make up statistics that have no basis in reality all the time. Liberals in newspapers like Maureen Dowd demonize conservatives in commentaries and news reports every day. Let me give you some facts.

--During this last election one of the liberal Democratic candidates in Alaska, running against a conservative, met with a group of his far left supporters to try to incite a brawl at the Republican's rally. It was caught on tape.

--President Obama called the right or conservatives the enemy in one of his speeches recently. (Last time I checked, conservatives or Republicans aren't the enemy but one of the two legitimate, American political parties).

--Public education in many states is broken and dysfunctional. Liberals are the dominate group who controls the ed system in most states. The statistics related to drop out rates, misappropriation of finances and test scores are often fuzzy and not accurate. This untrue info is put out by liberals.

I could give many more examples of liberal double speak and disinformation (lies) but I haven't the time.

If a person actually believes liberals aren't as guilty of lying to the public as conservatives, I suggest he or she read a bit more and examine both sides of issues rather than just listening to media that reinforces their own prejudices.

Little known fact, George Washington was against the idea of political parties. His reason was, he felt that eventually elected officials would end up acting according to their party's direction as opposed to acting on behalf of the public. Political office was once called Public Office and the candidates were called Public Officials once elected. Somewhere, somehow, Politics got in the way. Politics is the problem.

^^^ congrats to a successful election. Yes indeed public official will be a puppet like position. And the only problem was the string pullers, and even those oligarch. But those scenarios happen anywhere in the world.
