So the lovely lady I talked about last week? She's married. But how was I supposed to know when she didn't wear a %&$ ring!? All ten of her fingers are completely bare. Was her husband just cheap? I don't know.

And how come some single ladies wear rings on the finger reserved for wedding rings? Are they trying to scare away guys? This is just confusing.

I hate it for you. Unfortunately, both married males and females are guilty of not wearing a wedding band. Some for legit reasons (working on equipment - best not to have on a ring), others not. Regarding single ladies wearing rings on the "wedding finger" - I don't recall ever being taught that I couldn't wear anything but a wedding band on that finger - so if you see a ring, look closer to see if it's truely a wedding ring or just a ring. good luck to you.

How do you know if it's a wedding ring or just a normal ring?

There is no strick rule for rings. A traditional wedding ring will have a single diamond which is prominent on a band, or just a band. Why not ask any woman whom you find attractive if the ring she's wearing is a wedding ring? It's a great ice breaker for conversation. If her answer is "yes, I am married", a simple "that's too bad for me because I think you are pretty, goodbye", is great for everyone.

Sorry you got your hopes up only to find out Miss Naked Fingers is a married women, it happens frequently with me and men because many men will not wear a ring. I wonder how that decision is made in a marriage? Carry on 4444.

That sucks! I usually check for some sort of mark like the skin being slightly white wear a ring would have been. I knew one coworker who used to put a cubic zirconium ring on her finger so all the customers would stop hitting on her and my best friends wife just wears a pretty basic ring with a small diamond on each of the four sides. It's definitely hard to tell, but SudoJudo had a good idea that at least it's an icebreaker. Let's just hope that when they have a ring on and you ask they tell the truth and answer honestly rather than being flattered and saying no so they can flirt with you more.

Yes, it is bad that they don't wear there rings. For it's hard enough dating let alone having to worry if someone is married or not!!! I agree that you can always ask BUT not everyone is honest!!!! Especially if you've been chatting for a while and then meet them and find out they are married, seperated or involved with someone else.

You all need to step into the digital age.

You can goto your states Supreme Court network. ours is http://www.oscn.net

from there you can search the dockets by first and last name. that will show you state wide if they have any marriage certificates, any litigation hearings or criminal trials. Easy to do and every state has it since that freedom of information act was passed.

You could also goto your local records building and request a inqurey about that person. but if i remember right that costs money.

that would only be good if you were on first and last name basis and that would require dating right? I can't get beyond an email or a text so what's the use of a web search. Some guy had the nerve to tell me I was to strict because I said I would like to see ID... of course he was claiming to be 21 and I sort of doubt that one.

well you could use reverse look up . com and use SharkZP to find there ip address of the incoming traffic from them. put that IP in the webstie and you get a name (registered to the IP) street address(also registered) and ISP.

but that would be sort of stalker'ish IMO. I'd probably just say "Hey are you married" to her face and see what her reaction to it is.

more often then not though you can see a tan line on the wedding finger. unless they truely are asshats and never wear the engagement/wedding ring.

well its not like Drivers ID's (at least here) have any super personal information. and he could of just held his thumb over his address and let you look just to prove his point.
