I think we are desensitized to decency. Look at the covers of the magazines that are in your local grocery, if they can be naked in public then why can't the patrons? Propriety, modesty, decorum, respectibility, good taste and gentility all seem to be words from the past or considered old fashioned. The funny thing is that the culture today tries to get noticed by shock value and they are not realizing that there is little left to shock us with.
There is a guy that walks around town here in ONLY cowboy boots and underwear strumming on his guitar - he is called the Naked Cowboy - and noone (but the midwesterners) gives him a second glance anymore. I dont hear much about The Girls Gone Wild videos anymore, it is because that is nothing new anylonger?
I dont think is has much to do with the fashion and textile industry, they are not the ones leading the charge of scandalous attire, they actually look to the streets for their inspiration then modify it to suit the mainstream public. Why? Because they cant come up with any more original ideas.
I think I am off topic but what the heck. |
