darkly1, I'm sorry your mother isn't as supportive as she should be in your current relationship. I am very fortunate myself that the majority of my family has been only encouraging to me and I am 49. My mom and youngest sister/her husband too are my best fans, in fact my little sis and her hubby searched this site for me as the best, go figure that one out!
Here, we have all kinds and a lot of us are looking for relationships, not necessarily marriage as we're established in our own lives and careers, not disillusioned. But we are not closed to the possibility. Then of course, there are those only looking for hookups and some of us are struggling very hard to be accepting of that attitude.
