From a man's point of view, you need to take the blinders off. If I tentatively set a date to meet a woman on a certain day, I will contact you if i cannot make it. There would be communication. This is not 1810, it's 2010.
I would not worry about him and I would not pursue him. If he comes back to you with a good explanation, then you should do what you feel with this guy. If not, he is not the last guy on earth...there will be more.
