Most guys(and even girls sometimes) "come on strong" with multiple people till they get a bite. At that point either they level with you and tell you they're seeing/interested in someone else, play you and don't tell you anything, or they just focus all their efforts into their most recent play thing.
Chances are the guy is just an asshole, but it never hurts to send him a message just asking him how he's doing or inquire about the date/meeting/etc.
