For certain reasons like? Lack of moderators? Server space? I can't imagine for a dating related forum. I can think of a fair number of respectable forums that allow images in sigs but still have a strict ToS.
But as a compromise I would suggest userbars over both images and badges, they take up less space and still get the job done in a neat way.
